    Rumors n' rumblings

    Story here

The WV Gazette is reporting that Rich may be in talks with Michigan.

I don't know what to make of all this.

IMO, he is free to go make his living anywhere he would like at any time; however , as a public figure he has an obligation to exhibit some transparency and consideration of impacts of his actions.

Regardless of the outcome on this, his handling of it reduces my respect for him immensely. His disregard for the short term future of the kids on the team, the prospective recruits, and the folks who pay him all that money is disgusting to me.
After all, the name of the TEAM is the "Mountaineers," not the "Rodriguezes."

He's a very good coach...but a very immature businessman. One would think he'd be embarrassed to be considered only after Schiano turned them down....and put into the same category as Petrino.

I couldn't agree with you more Greg. I've heard it has been said that when Michigan comes calling you have to at least listen to what they have to say. Well, Schiano didn't listen and it would be a lot better fit for him with the talent UM already possesses.

Rodriquez is a fantastic coach and an offensive genius but that doesn't make it ok for him to act like an asshole as Petrino and Saban have. He has had a good year, however, his team has underachieved given the schedule they played and he does not deserve to be rewarded for simply doing his job.

WVU should pick up the phone today and call Terry Bowden for an interview. I'm not the biggest Bowden fan in the country, but it's definitely someone they could call without pissing anybody off except Rodriguez. Schedule an interview and come out publicly asking Rodriquez to make his decision quickly as his delay is doing damage to the program. At this point, I hope the bastard leaves and enjoys the same success Beilein is having. Ultimately, WVU should go after Jerry Moore. We wouldn't miss a beat.

I think you 2 might be jumping the gun a little bit. When Michigan comes calling, you do take the call. But with Rod'd buyout and the money it would take to get him away, it's unlikely he's leaving. However, getting his name out there is not a bad thing. He has a national reputation and it can only help in recruiting.

You also mentioned, he's the #____ choice. That's not necessarily true either. Saban took a 4 million dollar offer from 'Bama. No one else was offered that much money...so it was not that he was the last choice but more likely, one they thought they couldn't get.

And as far as Petrino, he left a job in which he was highly likely to struggle over the next couple years before being fired. This is the same Author Blank who fired a 3-10 Dan Reeves back in 2003. No one is calling Blank an asshole. It's a business and everyone has the right to pursue happiness...It's in the constitution.
