UConn CB Jasper Howard killed in stabbing. Condolences on behalf of West Virginia concerning this tragic event.

This casts a pall over the upcoming game, but more importantly is a horrible tragedy for his family. R.I.P.

I want to add my condolences to the UConn Nation, Coach Edsel, and the Howard family. I would note that Coach Stewart was shaken at his conference call. Coach Stew in way of remembrance spoke of Jasper's qualities as a special teams player, and as an athlete in general. I would add that he was very impressive in his D-back roll this year. I am so sorry that his football career, and more importantly his life has been ended so prematurely. I believe that there may be a moment of silence at the beginning of the game for this fallen athlete. I hope that all readers of this blog will send their thoughts and prayers to all effected by this awful event.

It's tragic by any measure. But I would like to know the rest of the story. People USUALLY don't get stabbed just because they're standing there. Especially in a stabbing. It takes a well placed stab wound or several attempts to be mortally wounded. There was a fire alarm pulled and many, many witnesses from the student union. I don't think we've heard the end of this story. A tragedy indeed!
