WVU has second half let down but comes away with win against USF

The first half was impressive and the second half left something to be desired but I would rather win an ugly one than lose a heart felt hard fought lost. Obviosly, the Eers were lead both in minutes and in performance by Da Sean Buttler. It was very nice to get 37 minutes his 27 ponts were welcome as well he was also a sturdy 3 for 6 from three point land and an impressive 6 for 6 from the free throw line. Truly he was the difference maker. Good game Da.

Butler also had 1 assist in the game. It just happened to be the 3 pointer that John Flowers made that helped seal the win. The level of play by the 'Eers as a whole in this game was not a positive sign for things to come. Truck Bryant again did not play well. Fortunately, he only turned the ball over twice and only shot 6 times, but he has to be more of an offensive contributor. Especially since none of our many many forwards besides Butler have any kind of inclination for offense other than being able to rebound. The next 5 games are going to be brutal and the way we played yesterday, I wouldn't expect us to win more than one of them.

As long as the "one" is Pitt, I could live with that.

But your point is well taken, we are seriously lacking at the point. Truck is still playing out of control and making bad decisions/shot seletions. We need him to grow very quickly!!

Huggins said it best. Quoting Al McGuire "The best thing about freshmen is they become sophomores." He also had a good line about Johnny West who dressed against USF, but is not ready to play... "I got tired of him sitting on the bench with bad hair and bad clothes,''

I still think we can get better, but every time I look at the schedule, I can't see a way to make enough ground in enough time to make the NCAA's. 4 of our next 5 games against teams in the top 14. 3 of those 4 on the road. And the other game against St. Johns is a must win given that they have already knocked off Notre Dame and will likely be competing for the possible last tourney spot (along w/ Providence) Even if we win 2 of those, we're 4-5 with our next 5 games containing 3 teams in the top 25. Three of the last four games become more winnable, but it may well likely be too late by then.
