That being said, I wouldn't want to be a QB that faces WVU this year. WVU is blessed with a 1 2 punch of Irvin and Miller. While Miller is currently on the mend there doesn't appear to be any reason to fret. But what of the rest of the defense this year? I assure you that our offense will score points. Likely we will be able to outscore the vast majority of our opponents. But to be a 10 or better win team I think we need the defense to prove to be reliable.
We are solid in the Middle with Mr. Goode. We are set at the left Corner in Keith Tandy and we look to be pretty solid at safety in Garvin but how are we as a whole. One issue of concern as was first opined on by the Signal Caller in a twitter post, is that our offense even if successful will by its nature keep our defense on the field an inordinate amount of time. We are going to need to be not only in shape but also smart about our play-making. This team looks to be more of a turnover producer than one that will cause a lot of 3 and outs. Of course Jeff Casteel maybe has a trick or two up his sleeve to get the "D" off the field with more alacrity. I do think that our Pass "D" will be stellar. It faces our offense on a regular basis so those skills will be honed. My concern and the concern of many I have spoken with is that of getting quality reps against a standard up the middle rush attack. How will this D perform against that kind of push. We are clearly going to be smaller than we were last season. I believe that the game-planning of apposing teams will include holding onto the ball as long as possible to keep it out of the hands of our play-makers. Thus, our "D" needs to learn and adapt quickly. I think that sound tackling is a key for a young "D"'s success. If we have that and if we can make some plays we could have a very special season. I am getting excited to feel the ground shake soon as the Irvin Miller express unload upon the opposition.

The rumors of the Earth-Quake being a Bruce Irvin hit are completely overblown.
