This may not be how we drew it up at beginning of season but a nice finish. I would not have had so many Little 11 teams in the poll and would have voted UTAH 1.5 in the polls for their season but the polls were pretty close. MOST notably those little wimps from Pittsburgh are looking up at us again. That will always give me a smile. Thoughts on the future lead me to point out that WVU has 6 verbals of the 4 Star variety. None to shabby. We shall see how it pans out. Oh and I have to leave this football season on this note. PAT WHITE IS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!

The fact that Wittingham voted for his own team (Utah) is interesting. The coaches are required to vote for the winner of the title game and I wonder if there will be any repercussions on him for not having a unanimous vote. I'm sure there are a lot of people that feel like Utah doesn't really have the talent to compete w/ the best of the best and the competition they played against doesn't warrant them a shot in the title game. That may be true, but their season does warrant a selection in a national playoff. The chances may be very slim that Utah could win 3 games in an 8 team playoff. But we shouldn't forget the NCAA basketball tournament where UAB recently made the Final Four and Davidson game within a hair of beating eventual national champion Kansas in the elite 8. Sometimes these "smaller" teams are legitimate enough to have a chance to compete and the BCS refuses to let them in anyway.

Hope for the "non-BCS" schools is simply not there. If I was a team like Utah I would get on the Horn with the Boise State(s), BYU(s), Fresno State(s), Texas Christian(s)and attempt to form a new conference with BCS impact. The truth is that any team that had to run that gauntlet would deserve a nod.
